What the beta is
A private test of MarkitoBar, a notes app for the macOS menu bar, before its public release. Builds may have bugs. The app keeps your notes on your Mac and syncs a copy; keep your own backups of anything important anyway.
Telemetry is mandatory
Taking part means the app sends usage and error data to us while you are in the beta. It cannot be turned off during the beta: without it the test tells us nothing.
What is sent, linked to your account: app and macOS version, Mac model, language, which features are used and when (a note created, a sync, a recording, a summary, an export…), how long operations take, errors, and crash reports.
What is never sent: the text or titles of your notes, attachments, recordings, transcriptions, what you send to an AI provider or what it answers, API keys, passwords or files.
It goes to our server and to PostHog (United States), which processes it on our behalf. We keep it for up to 12 months and use it only to improve MarkitoBar. To stop it, leave the beta: sign out in the app or delete your account.
Feedback
You can send feedback from the app. A report may include a picture of the panel and diagnostic logs; you see what goes before it is sent, and the logs do not include the contents of your notes. We read every report.
Your place
Invite codes are personal and work once. On the start date we send a personal download link. If you do not download the app or sign in within 3 days, the place goes to someone on the waiting list.
The 14-day test starts at your first sign-in in the app, with the Google account you signed up with. Ideally use it on more than one Mac. Three days before the end we write to you.
What you keep
Sync stays on for one year from your first sign-in, the same as a paid account, whatever you report. After that the app keeps working on your Mac without sync unless you renew.
The wall
If you agree, your Google picture appears on the testers’ wall at beta.markitobar.cc. Only the picture: no name or email. You can remove it at any time from the same page.
Everything else
The terms of service apply too. You can leave whenever you want; deleting your account from the app erases what the server holds for it.
